I've submitted an application to kickstarter.com. This is a website that helps people with there projects. in this case I need funding help to enter events, equipment, etc. Hopefully I can get approved and really get a "kickstart" on this dream!

NEW Plan for 2012

I've been thinking things over and came up with a new plan for 2012. Instead of "going pro" and trying to just qualify for one Nationwide event I'm going to keep my "Amateur Status" and compete in several State events.

My schedule should look a little like this:
1. Feb 2012: Emerald Coast Event, Pace, FL; Entering as an Amateur
2. May 2012: Alabama Amateur Qualifier
3. June 2012: Alabama State Amateur (If qualify)
4. September 2012: Either Alabama State Mid-AM or Decide to "go pro" and attempt a Nationwide Event.

With this plan, I can compete in a few different tournaments, gain experience and see how I stack up to some of the state’s best talent.

As for an update on my game:
My last round I shot a +2, 72. I still need to cut around 5 strokes and consistently shoot in the high 60’s

Until Next time,
Thanks!

HELLO WORLD

Hello and welcome to a little look inside my journey to competing in a Nationwide golf tour Monday Qualifying event. Hopefully qualifying for a Nationwide tour event. After that who knows. Probably back to reality… or maybe I can beat the odds.

ME:

First of all let me introduce myself. I’m Nic, 32 year old father of one little girl and husband of the most beautiful woman in the world. I started playing golf at the age of around 12. Hitting balls on my homes land, I didn’t play my first round of golf until well into high school and didn’t play a lot until my 20’s. I’m a pretty athletic guy; my swing is natural being that my #1 sport was baseball. Since my twenties I’ve averaged about one round of golf per week. My handicap from the years of 2002 until 2009 ranged from 20 to 10. In 2009 I met my soon to be wife and golf kind of took a back seat. Two years into marriage 2011, and a baby girl who is now one year old. I’ve decided to start a journey. A journey my wife and I’m sure the entire family doesn’t understand. I simply want to Qualify for a Nationwide Tour event in 2012.

MY FAMILY:

As I said earlier my wife is the most beautiful woman on the face of the earth. She is also the BEST mom ever. While I come to work and create blogs and dream of playing golf for a living, she’s at home raising our one year old little girl, who is very close to taking over the #1 spot of most beautiful… Our little “miracle” is truly a miracle and is my inspiration for everything I do. She was born with a rare birth defect called: Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). Long story short she had a hole in her diaphragm allowing her organs that are supposed to be in the belly, up into her chest. This defect occurs in about 2500-5000 births per year and holds a 50% chance of survival. She went into surgery and the defect was repaired just a few days after she was born. Thanks to the great medical staff of Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the grace of God our little baby is here and healthy. Not much is known about the disease and it’s my goal to eventually donate to the research of CDH.

MY PLAY:

At the beginning of 2011 I started playing the game of golf again after a two year “break”. After my first round I knew it was going to take a little work to get back to shooting in the 80’s like a few years back. After some looks into my swing, I noticed a few things that stood out and fixed them. By summer I was back shooting 85 with no issues. After taking 5 strokes off my game in about a month I started wondering. “How good can I be?” I continued to study my swing (video cams and cell phones with golf analysis apps) and as of Sep 2011, I’ve dropped my handicap to single digits (5). This entire month I’ve be hitting the range on almost a daily basis, learning more and more through the power of the internet and technology. I plan to play again this month (Oct) and we will see where I am.

FIRST POST:

This is my first post. I hope to update this blog a few times a week. Talking about my swing etc. I’m not sure what nationwide event I’m going to try for. Something in the southeast part of the country. The 2012 Nationwide schedule is set to come out sometime next month (Nov). So we will see. Thanks for reading. Enjoy.
